Porsche Considers Adding Entry-Level Boxster

In an interview with Automotive News Europe, Porsche CEO Matthias Mueller said that 2014 may see a new entry-level roadster added to the brand’s lineup. This new model would be a descendent of the iconic Porsche 550, a mid-engined convertible made from 1953 to 1956 which was very successful in European auto racing. Lotus Elise Investigated for Fire Hazard

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation last week into 4,400 Lotus Elise cars from model years 2005 and 2006 that may have ruptured oil lines. So far, there has only been one complaint of an engine fire, although NHTSA says any type of oil leak can cause a fire. Otherwise, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Kids are Safer Riding with Grandparents than Parents

A recent study shows that children who ride in the car with their grandparents are safer than those riding with their parents. "We were surprised to discover that the injury rate was considerably lower in crashes where grandparents were the drivers," Fred Henretig, lead researcher and doctor at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, said to the Associated Press. New Toyota Technology Will Automatically Steer Car Away From Accident

Toyota is in the process of developing technology that will automatically steer a vehicle away from another vehicle or pedestrian to avoid an accident. U.S. Sells Remaining Chrysler Shares to FIAT

The U.S. Treasury announced Thursday it has sold the rest of its shares of Chrysler Group LLC to Italian automaker FIAT.
