2012 Acura TSX Special Edition to Hit Dealerships Late September
Acura is selling a special edition of its entry-level TSX sedan in conjunction with the brand’s 25th anniversary. The TSX Special Edition will be a 2012 model and will go on sale in late September of this year.
Acura says in a press release the 2012 TSX Special Edition will feature exterior and interior upgrades to differentiate it from the base TSX model. The upgrades are all cosmetic, including a new front spoiler, rear bumper fascia, side sills, a Special Edition trunk badge and new wheels. Inside, the TSX Special Edition gets perforated black suede seat inserts, red stitching on the seats, steering wheel and shift knob and red lighting for the gauges, overhead lights and footwell. The TSX Special Edition also gets aluminum pedal covers, a black headliner and silver plating on the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.
The 2012 Acura TSX Special Edition will get the same base engine available in the regular TSX sedan, which is a 2.4-liter inline four-cylinder. Acura didn’t say if the 3.5-liter V6 would be available as an upgrade for the TSX Special Edition like it is for the regular TSX. Both the five-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmissions are available on the TSX Special Edition.
Acura hasn’t announced official pricing for the 2012 TSX Special Edition, but the base TSX starts at $29,610, while the V6 TSX starts at $35,150. Cars.com’s Kicking Tires reports that the Acura TSX Special Edition will cost less than $31,000. The base 2011 Acura TSX comes standard with Bluetooth, USB iPod input, auxiliary input and satellite radio.
