Jaguar C-X16 Set to Debut at Frankfurt Motor Show
Jaguar announced Tuesday that it will unveil the C-X16 sports coupe at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Sept. 13. The C-X16 concept was designed by the same team responsible for the Jaguar XJ, XF and XK, which is headed by Jaguar’s Design Director, Ian Callum.
"Great Jaguar cars have always been beautiful, innovative and have looked firmly to the future,” says Callum in a Jaguar press release. “The finished C-X16 concept has the potential to do these things while retaining the ability to surprise, excite and invigorate."
Some members of the press note that with the Jaguar E-Type celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the C-X16’s debut is a timely introduction for an heir to the E-Type. “While the XK might to some seem like its successor, the luxury coupe is considerably heftier and more sedate, much as there is to love about it,” says Autoblog. “A sportier model to slot in below it – in terms of both price and size – has been touted for some time, and now it appears to be nearing its manifestation at long last.”
Jaguar plans to reveal full details on the C-X16 concept on Wednesday, Sept. 7.
