Volvo Recalls 8,400 S80 Sedans
If you own a 2007 Volvo S80, you may be part of an 8,400-vehicle recall. Volvo has red-flagged these models, which were manufactured from March 8, 2006 to May 16, 2007, for steering problems.
The New York Times explains that “the automaker said a leak of power-steering fluid could result in a sudden loss of power assist. It attributed the problem to an improperly routed hose on vehicles equipped with the 6-cylinder, nonturbocharged engine. Volvo said it was not aware of any accidents related to the problem.”
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration adds that a loss of power steering increases the risk of a crash.
The Volvo S80 recall begins this month, and Volvo dealers will make the necessary repairs for free. Owners with questions should contact Volvo at 1-201-768-7300, or reach NHTSA at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to www.safercar.gov. The Volvo recall safety number is R246.
