Dodge Previews the 2013 Dart Interior

Last week, we got our first glimpse of the 2013 Dodge Dart’s exterior design. Now, the peep show continues as Dodge revealed images of the Dart’s gauge cluster and center stack Tuesday. “The Dart’s ‘driver-centric’ layout is designed to put all controls within easy reach of the driver,” says Dodge in a press release. “Customizable displays and comfort-tuned seats are packaged in an exceptionally spacious, pleasing interior.”

Dodge says that the 2013 Dart will have available features such as a customizable 7-inch gauge cluster, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touch screen and a heated steering wheel. The Dart will also come with 10 standard airbags. Safety options will include blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection systems.

The new affordable small car should also boast a high-quality interior that rivals more expensive vehicles. “Dodge says there will be plenty of soft-touch material throughout the Dart’s cabin, and we have little reason to doubt this,” writes Car and Driver. “The automaker’s recent offerings all have vastly improved interiors.”

That’s good news, since interior quality is becoming increasingly important in the automotive marketplace. The Detroit News spoke with IHS Automotive Analyst Aaron Bragman, who says “carmakers have been upping their game for a few years now. The ones that don't are the ones that stand out.”

The 2013 Dodge Dart will debut Jan. 9 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
