2013 Ford Escape Pricing Announced

2013 Ford Escape

The redesigned 2013 Ford Escape will start at $22,470, which is about $1,000 more than the outgoing model, according to Ford’s website. Though its base price is higher, the new Escape will offer more standard features than the 2012 model.

The base Escape S has front-wheel drive and a four-cylinder engine, and includes features like a six-speaker stereo system, an auxiliary audio input jack and integrated blind spot mirrors. Though the outgoing Escape was available with a manual transmission, the 2013 model will only be available with a six-speed automatic. “Although the stick shift is gone, the base price of the Escape with an auto has dropped by $200,” notes Car and Driver.

The Escape SE starts at $25,070 and is available with either a 1.6- or a 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ecoboost engine. It can be equipped with either front- or all-wheel drive, and adds Ford’s Sync media interface system. Opting for the Escape SEL will cost you $27,870, and although it offers the same powertrain options as the SE, it adds standard leather upholstery, a nine-speaker stereo and a leather-wrapped tilt and telescoping steering wheel with audio controls. The top-of-the-line Escape Titanium is $30,370 and is only available with the 2.0-liter engine, though it can be equipped with either front- or all-wheel drive. Heated leather seats, 19-inch alloy wheels and a hands-free power liftgate come standard with this trim.

Reviewers note that the Escape’s redesign was a long time coming, but many of its competitors will be recently updated as well. “The Escape received the first substantial redesign in its history for the 2013 model year, and faces competition from new or refreshed models like the Honda CR-VMazda CX-5Kia Sportage and, unveiled last week at the New York auto show, the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport,” writes The New York Times. “The redesign of another competitor, the Toyota RAV4, is expected next year.”

Ford is currently accepting orders for the new 2013 Escape, which will be available later in 2012.
