2013 Lexus ES 350 and ES 300h Priced

Lexus announced that the redesigned 2013 ES 350 will start at $36,100 (plus an $895 destination fee) when it hits showroom floors next month. Toyota’s luxury brand points out that the new ES 350’s base price is 1.7 percent less than the outgoing 2012 model, which starts at $36,725.

Luxury hybrid shoppers will also have a new option in August, as the all-new 2013 Lexus ES 300h will be sold alongside the redesigned ES 350 with a base price of $38,850. Lexus says that at $2,750 more than the non-hybrid model, the ES 300h has “the lowest hybrid premium in the Lexus line-up.” Still, competitors like Lincoln sell the 2012 MKZ and MKZ Hybrid for the same base price.

While the outgoing ES 350 shares its platform with the midsize 2012 Toyota Camry, Automobile Magazine reports that the 2013 ES 350 shares its DNA with the larger 2013 Avalon. Ten airbags, a backup camera, a moonroof, NuLuxe vinyl seats, Bluetooth and an eight-speaker stereo with a USB port and satellite radio are among the 2013 ES 350’s standard features. Notable options include heated seats and navigation, as well as pre-collision, lane departure, rear cross traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring systems.

Cars.com reports that the 2013 ES 350 carries the same 268-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 as the 2012 model, but the ES “gets a little longer for 2013 and now uses the brand's new spindle grille and a revised suspension.” The new ES 300h features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson cycle engine. The ES 300h produces a combined 200 horsepower and features an EV mode which allows it to travel short distances solely on electric power.

The EPA reports that the 2013 ES 350 gets 21/31 mpg city/highway, which is an improvement compared with the 2012 model’s 19/28 mpg estimates. The new 2013 ES 300h gets 40/39 mpg city/highway, which is comparable to similarly-powered cars like the 2012 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
