Buick Reveals 2013 Verano Turbo Pricing

Buick announced Wednesday that the 2013 Buick Verano Turbo will start at $29,990, including destination, when it hits dealerships this fall.

The Verano Turbo features a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 250-horsepower, according to a Buick press release. Power is routed through either a six-speed automatic transmission or a no-charge six-speed manual. Buick says the Verano Turbo “will offer more power and better fuel efficiency than the competition.” When equipped with a six-speed manual, the Verano Turbo achieves an EPA-estimated 20/31 mpg city/highway, which is comparable to what you’ll get in similarly-equipped upscale small cars like the 2012 Acura TSX and Volvo C30. Fuel economy estimates with the automatic transmission have not been announced yet.

Kicking Tires seems fairly impressed by the numbers, saying that the Verano Turbo’s fuel economy is “only a 1 mpg sacrifice in city, highway and combined ratings compared to the non-turbo Verano for an additional 70 hp and claimed performance of zero to 60 mph in 6.2 seconds.”

Car and Driver compares the Verano Turbo with the 2013 Acura ILX 2.4, noting that the two cars are priced within $105 dollars of each other. The ILX 2.4, which is only available with a manual transmission, has 201-horsepower and achieves an EPA-estimated 22/31 mpg city/highway.

Cosmetically, the Verano Turbo distinguishes itself from other Verano trims with a rear spoiler, sport pedals and dual exhaust. Standard equipment also includes a nine-speaker Bose stereo, Buick’s IntelliLink infotainment system, leather seats, a heated steering wheel and heated front seats. It also has a standard backup camera and rear parking sensors, blind-zone alert and rear cross-traffic alert, while options include navigation and a power sunroof.

Buick also announced that for 2013, all Verano models will come standard with a backup camera. Full pricing details for the 2013 Verano lineup have yet to be announced.
