2013 Acura TL Pricing Announced

2013 Acura TL

Acura announced last week that the 2013 Acura TL, the brand’s midsize sedan, starts at $35,905, not including an $895 destination fee. The most expensive trim of the TL lineup, equipped with all-wheel drive, a manual transmission and Technology Package, starts at $43,185.

The 2013 Acura TL isn’t much different from last year’s model, except for a $200 price increase on each trim. Though the TL’s manual transmission continues to be available only on higher trims, Automobile Magazine appreciates that it’s still an option. “The 2013 Acura TL may not have changed compared to the 2012 model, but we’re glad the automaker hasn’t removed the manual-transmission model.”

The 2013 Acura TL is on sale now and is available with a 3.5- or 3.7-liter V6 engine and either front- or all-wheel drive. Standard features on the base trim include two-stage heated front seats with adjustable lumbar support, an eight-speaker sound system with USB and auxiliary audio input jacks and dual-zone automatic climate controls. Upper trims offer features like a blind-spot warning system, GPS-linked temperature control, push-button start and navigation with voice recognition and Zagat reviews.

In general, the TL’s prices stack up well against the competition. The base 2013 TL costs just $15 less than the 2012 Cadillac CTS sedan, but the TL comes with similar standard features, like dual-zone automatic climate control and Bluetooth, as well as more horsepower. The base 2013 Mercedes-Benz C250 sedan costs $555 less than the base TL, but in terms of standard features it also comes up short against the TL, with a smaller engine, a deficit of almost 80 horsepower and lacking luxury amenities like heated front seats with lumbar support and satellite radio.

The Acura TL’s top-tier trim level makes it one of the only upscale midsize cars in its price range with a six-cylinder engine, a manual transmission and all-wheel drive. The 2013 BMW 335i xDrive offers all of these features, but costs $1,615 more than the TL with these features. The 2012 Infiniti G37 sedan can come with either a manual transmission or all-wheel drive, but not both, and neither all-wheel drive trim of the Cadillac CTS sedan or Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan are available with a manual.
