IIHS Announces Four New Top Safety Picks

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety announced Thursday that the 2013 Ford Escape, Acura ILX, Subaru BRZ and Scion FR-S earned the organization’s Top Safety Pick accolade. Ford Recalls 2013 Escape for Potential Engine Coolant Leak

Ford is recalling 6,146 Escape SUVs from the 2013 model year. The recall applies to models with 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines that could have an engine coolant leak. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says that if the coolant leaks and evaporates on the engine when it is hot, a fire could start. Ford, Honda Issue Voluntary Recalls

Ford has issued a voluntary recall on the 2013 Escape for a potentially faulty fuel line that could break, spilling fuel and possibly causing an engine fire. In a press release, Ford says the recall affects about 11,500 models built through June 11, 2012 that have the 1.6-liter Ecoboost engine. EPA Rates Fuel Economy of 2013 Ford Escape, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ

The EPA has released fuel economy figures for three all-new or redesigned vehicles that go on sale later this year: the 2013 Ford Escape, Scion FR-S and Subaru BRZ. 2013 Ford Escape Pricing Announced

The redesigned 2013 Ford Escape will start at $22,470, which is about $1,000 more than the outgoing model, according to Ford’s website. Though its base price is higher, the new Escape will offer more standard features than the 2012 model.
