2014 Tiguan, Touareg Receive Volkswagen's R-Line Treatment
USA Today says, “The R-Line is basically sportier looks without amping up the horsepower.” The Tiguan R-Line will have the same engine found across the Tiguan lineup, a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and it gets a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels. R-Line Touaregs will have the same engine choices as the gas and diesel models, including a 280-horsepower, 3.6-liter V6 or a 240-horsepower, 3.0-liter diesel V6, and will have a sport-tuned suspension and 20-inch wheels. The R-Line Tiguan will be available in front- or all-wheel drive, while the Touareg R-Line will have standard all-wheel drive. Volkswagen says the larger wheels and sport-tuned suspension will provide “more dynamic driving characteristics.”
The majority of the R-Line’s features are cosmetic exterior and interior styling upgrades, like LED daytime running lights, chrome-trimmed, body-colored side skirts, an R-Line spoiler, Bi-xenon headlights, LED taillights and dual exhaust tips. On the inside, R-Line models will have features like aluminum sport pedals, an R-Line steering wheel, metallic-finish trim and brushed aluminum trim. R-Line Tiguans also get an eight-speaker Fender audio system with subwoofer.
Other VW models with R-Line trims include the 2013 VW Beetle and 2013 CC. Volkswagen has not yet released pricing information for the 2014 Tiguan or Touareg R-Line, but says they will go on sale in the third quarter of 2013.
