Volvo Updates its Lineup for Geneva Motor Show

Volvo has released the first glimpse of the updated 2014 S60 and S80 sedans, as well as its XC60 and XC70 crossovers, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

2014 Volvo S60

Volvo says in a press release that the new S60 and XC60 will be updated inside and out. The S60 gets revamped front-end styling, as well as more high-quality interior materials, including additional metal trim and new wood inlays, as well as new upholstery colors. “The overall effect is very warm and cozy, like being in a warm Swedish house on a cold night,” says Lena Jiseborn, Volvo design director, Color and Trim.

2014 Volvo XC60

The 2014 Volvo XC60 gets styling updates that include a new hood and reworked headlamps on the outside, as well as interior enhancements that are similar to those found on the S60. For 2014, Volvo’s luxury compact SUV will also come standard with Corner Traction Control, which Volvo says improves cornering stability “by applying just the right amount of brake force to the inner wheels while powering the outer wheels when accelerating out of a corner.”

New optional sport seats are available on both models, as well as a permanent high-beam headlight system that automatically switches to low beams when a car is approaching from the opposite direction.

2014 Volvo S80

The 2014 Volvo S80 gets new front and rear bumpers, as well as reworked daytime running lights. Volvo’s luxury large car also gets an optional Inscription package that upgrades its interior materials. Autoweek writes, “The leather seats are from Bridge of Weir in Scotland, and buyers will get the choice of a comfort chassis or a lowered sport version when the 19-inch Bor wheels are selected.”

2014 Volvo XC70

Luxury wagon shoppers will see a new front grille, redesigned taillights and daytime running lights on the 2014 Volvo XC70. “Our aim is to emphasize the luxurious feel with a more powerful stance,” says Fedde Talsma, Volvo design director, exterior in a press release. “The XC70 should look perfectly at home in any environment, whether it's in the middle of the open country or a country club car park.”

A new infotainment system, known as Sensus Connected Touch, will be available on all models. The system features an “infrared, beam-scanned” 7-inch touch-screen display, which can be operated with gloves on. When paired with a 3G or 4G smartphone, Sensus will also let you surf the web if the car is stopped. Pricing and full specifications on the 2014 Volvo lineup have yet to be announced.
