Honda Recalls 2003 Acura MDX, 2003-04 Honda Odyssey
Honda has announced that it will recall 56,000 Acura MDX SUVs and 318,000 Honda Odyssey minivans in the U.S. because an electrical interference could cause the air bag system to malfunction. The recall affects the 2003 Acura MDX, as well as Honda Odysseys from the 2003 and 2004 model years.
While no crashes have been reported, Honda says it “has received a small but increasing number of complaints in recent months” that the air bags in these vehicles will inadvertently deploy. To prevent the issue from occurring, the dealers will install an electrical noise filter in affected MDX and Odyssey models free of charge.
Honda will notify owners of affected vehicles by mail starting in late October, and owners will be able to determine if their vehicle is subject to the recall by calling 1-800-999-1009, or by visiting www.recalls.honda.com and www.recalls.acura.com.
Edmunds writes, “There is a bit of a delay to the start of this recall. If you are experiencing a problem with your vehicle, it's best to get it into the dealership immediately.”
