Mini announced this week that it will display the Mini Clubman Concept next week at the Geneva Motor Show. The Clubman Concept has four traditional side doors, whereas the current Clubman has a rear-hinged suicide door on the passenger side and no rear passenger door on the driver side. As with the current model, access to the Clubman Concept's cargo area is through split, side-hinged doors.

Mini says in a press release the Clubman Concept has more interior space, and is about 10 inches longer and nearly 7 inches wider than the current model. The Clubman Concept can seat five, whereas the current model only seats four.

The Clubman Concept's styling is receiving fairly positive reviews from the automotive press so far. Of the exterior look, Autoblog says, "… the Clubman Concept is instantly recognizable as a Mini, though a somewhat more refined overall package than past efforts."

The Mini Clubman Concept's interior features a centrally-mounted display screen and numerous colors on the dash, center console and seats. Car and Driver writes, "… it appears as though Mini didn’t get the memo that its current lineup’s visual-overload interiors need toning down." The publication expects that a production version would be a bit more restrained in its cabin styling.

Automobile Magazine believes the Clubman Concept is pretty close in appearance to what the production version will look like, and expects that the Clubman will have the same engine options currently available in the Mini Cooper hardtop: a turbocharged three-cylinder and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
