People looking for a compact SUV with top safety ratings have yet another option to choose from. The 2014 Nissan Rogue has been named a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

The Rogue, which is all-new for 2014, earned the award by scoring “Good,” the highest score possible, in the institute’s five tests. It also earned the award for receiving a “Basic” rating for front crash prevention for its optional forward collision warning system.

“Nissan has a long-standing commitment to safety and innovation, and this IIHS rating is a very important milestone for the all-new 2014 Rogue," Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing, Parts & Service, U.S.A, Nissan North America, Inc., said in a press release. "Rogue is the second best-selling vehicle in Nissan's lineup, and with its standard and available safety features, we're bringing a new level of affordable technologies and innovations to a growing segment looking for fresh ideas.”

The Rouge joins three other small SUVs that have the Top Safety Pick+ designation. The 2014 Subaru Forester, Mitsubishi Outlander and Mazda CX-5 have all earned the award.
