2013 Toyota RAV4 Teased Ahead of L.A. Auto Show

Toyota announced it will unveil the redesigned 2013 Toyota RAV4 at the 2012 Los Angeles Auto Show next Wednesday. Nearly 745,000 Grand Cherokee, Liberty SUVs Recalled for Defective Airbags

Last Week, Chrysler Group announced that it will recall about 745,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Liberty SUVs because of faulty airbags. The recall applies to 2002 to 2004 Grand Cherokee and 2002 to 2003 Liberty models. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that a part of the airbag control module may not work properly and could deploy the front and side airbags without warning while the vehicle is being driven. Hyundai, Kia to Reimburse Owners for Inaccurate MPG Estimates

After an investigation by the Environmental Protection Agency about overstated fuel economy ratings, Hyundai and Kia will change the labels on about 900,000 cars and SUVs to reflect the correct estimates and voluntarily reimburse owners for the discrepancy. IIHS Rates Top Child Booster Seats

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety released child booster seat ratings last week, with 47 making the Best Bet list. The IIHS says, “manufacturers are designing seats to provide good safety belt fit for booster-age children.” The Wall Street Journal writes, “Recent improvements mean top-rated seats outnumber seats with lesser ratings for the first time since the safety group released its first booster ratings in 2008." 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid Rated at Class-Leading 45 MPG

Last week, Lincoln announced that the redesigned 2013 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid received an EPA-certified 45/45 mpg city/highway, topping the fuel economy of all other midsize luxury hybrids. The MKZ Hybrid beats its closest competition, the redesigned 2013 Lexus ES Hybrid, which gets 40/39 mpg, but the ES Hybrid has a more powerful engine.
