Will the Fiat 500 Abarth Boost FIAT Sales?

When the 2012 Fiat 500 went on sale last year, Chrysler Group predicted that the Italian mini car would be an instant hit. But Chrysler Group didn’t meet its 2011 sales goal of 50,000 units, selling only 19,769 models by the end of 2011. Chrysler Group hopes that the introduction of the performance-oriented Fiat 500 Abarth will appeal to a new audience. “When we originally launched the car, a lot of our struggles came from the fact ... continue reading»

Compared with the base FIAT 500, which has a 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine making 101 horsepower, the Abarth edition takes things up a notch with its 160-horsepower ... continue reading»

The federal government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration just released the results of their crash tests of the 2012 FIAT 500.  The FIAT 500 receives an overall score of three out of five stars, which is less than other competing affordable small cars, and worse in general than most other vehicles sold. “The 500 finds itself in the company of the Dodge Caliber and outgoing Ford Escape as the only models tested so far to receive the three-star designation ... continue reading»

Dodge Journey and FIAT 500 Recalled for Brake Fluid Problem

Chrysler Group is recalling some 2012 Dodge Journey and 2012 FIAT 500 vehicles because they may have contaminated brake fluid. About 340 vehicles are affected, and were built from Oct. 24 through Oct. 26, 2011. The contaminated brake fluid could cause the brake system’s sealing components to degrade, which could lead to a loss of braking ability and a possible crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports. Owners of affected vehicles will be notified by Chrysler Group and ... continue reading»
