Walmart Rolls Back Gas Prices

Superstore mogul Walmart is offering 10 cents off the price of a gallon of gas this Fourth of July weekend at Murphy USA and Walmart stores. The deal, which is available in 18 states, started Wednesday and is good until September 30, 2011. Fewer People Will Travel This Fourth of July Weekend

Although gas prices are dropping, AAA predicts fewer Americans will travel this holiday weekend. An estimated “39 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during the Independence Day holiday weekend,” AAA reports. The number of travelers is down 2.5 percent from a year ago. Study says No Savings with 62 mpg Cars

Recently, consumer demand for fuel efficient cars has increased thanks to rising gas prices. However, a new study conducted by the Center for Automotive Research predicts that if the government requires automakers to produce vehicles with an average fuel economy of 62 mpg by 2025, they could become too expensive to offset the fuel savings.
