BMW Introduces ActiveHybrid 5

BMW announced Thursday it will sell a hybrid version of its 5-Series. The 2012 ActiveHybrid 5 is based on the gas-only 535i and is expected to hit U.S. dealerships in March 2012. Mitsubishi to Build Plug-in Hybrid SUV

The hybrid and electric vehicle race is heating up, as more automakers announce plans to bring a plug-in hybrid or all-electric vehicle to market. Mitsubishi, whose i-MiEV electric car is scheduled to go on sale later this year, has plans to build a plug-in hybrid SUV. Hybrid, Electric Vehicle Sales Plummet in June

Last month, electric and hybrid vehicles had their lowest sales numbers in more than six years, Edmunds.com reports.
