2012 Chrysler 300 Earns NHTSA's Highest Safety Rating

The 2012 Chrysler 300 has earned a five-star overall crash test rating, which is the highest possible, from the federal government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. In composite tests, NHSTA scores vehicles for front and side crash safety, and the 2012 Chrysler 300 also earns five out of five stars in both of these areas. IIHS Recognizes 115 Top Safety Picks

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has named 115 vehicles 2012 Top Safety Picks. The Institute says a record number of 38 SUVs, 69 cars, five minivans and three pickup trucks earned the top award this year. When Top Safety Pick awards began in 2005, there were just 11 winners. Chevrolet Volt Retains Five-Star Safety Rating

Earlier this week, we reported that General Motors would buy back Volts from car owners who fear that their hybrid car might catch fire. Despite these concerns, the 2012 Chevrolet Volt retained its five-star overall safety rating from the federal government. FIAT 500 Earns Top Safety Pick Award

When a FIAT 500 showed up for a test drive last week, it didn’t take us long to wonder how safe this small car could actually be.
