Honda Receives Most Awards in New IIHS Safety Ratings

2014 Acura MDX IIHS test Honda and its luxury brand, Acura, took home the most 2014 Top Safety Pick Plus awards of any automaker from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. 2014 Corolla Latest Toyota to Earn Low Rating in Difficult New Crash Test

2014 Toyota Corolla The 2014 Toyota Corolla has earned a “Marginal” rating in the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s (IIHS) small overlap front crash test, bringing to four the number of models that have fared poorly on the difficult new test. IIHS Adds Tests of Crash Prevention Systems

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is adding an evaluation of automatic crash prevention systems to its criteria for a Top Safety Pick+ award. In a press release, the IIHS says that the rating includes models equipped with forward collision warning and autonomous braking systems. The new tests evaluate how effective these systems are at reducing speeds and preventing a front-to-rear collision with another vehicle at speeds of 12 and 25 mph. Backup Camera Recommendation Causes Uproar Among Consumer Groups

These safety groups were expecting a decision two and a half years ago, but that ruling has been delayed several times.
