2012 Volkswagen Passat Earns Highest Government Safety Rating
The redesigned 2012 Volkswagen Passat earned the highest overall safety rating of five out of five stars in crash tests with the federal government’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In composite tests, the 2012 Passat also earned five stars in front and side crashes, but received a slightly lower score of four stars for rollover risk.

2012 Volkswagen Passat and Audi A6 Earn IIHS Top Safety Pick Status
The 2012 Volkswagen Passat and 2012 Audi A6 are the newest recipients of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick award. The IIHS named these cars Top Safety Picks for earning the top score of Good in front, side, rear and rollover crash tests.
