Volkswagen Will Alter Diesel Models to Avoid Misfueling

2012 Volkswagen Golf TDI Volkswagen is retrofitting about 260,000 diesel models in North America with a special fuel filler neck cap to help keep owners of diesel-powered models from accidently refueling with regular gasoline. The cap will shrink the diameter of the fuel neck and thus prevent gasoline pump nozzles from fitting into the fuel neck of a diesel vehicle. VW Golf Wins European Car of the Year, New Golf Models to Come to U.S.

The Volkswagen Golf has been named European Car of The Year at the Geneva Motor Show. The Detroit Bureau reports, "The seventh-generation VW hatchback soundly beat out its closest competitors in balloting by 58 automotive journalists from 22 European countries. The Golf scored 414 votes compared to 202 for the Subaru BRZ sports car, which took second place, and the 189 votes tallied by the Volvo V40." 2014 Tiguan, Touareg Receive Volkswagen's R-Line Treatment

Volkswagen debuted R-Line trims for two of its crossover SUVs, the 2014 Tiguan and Touareg, at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit this week. USA Today says, “The R-Line is basically sportier looks without amping up the horsepower.” The Tiguan R-Line will have the same engine found across the Tiguan lineup, a 200-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, and it gets a sport-tuned suspension and 19-inch wheels. Volkswagen Tops Total Quality Study

A recent study conducted by Strategic Vision concludes that Volkswagen Group of America is the top automaker when it comes to total quality. Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Group also rank highly on this index, which measures how pleased customers are with their new vehicles based on several indicators of quality. Volkswagen Will Reveal Beetle TDI at Chicago Auto Show

Volkswagen will unveil the 2013 Beetle TDI Clean Diesel next week at the Chicago Auto Show.
