Porsche Recalls Cayenne SUVs

Posted: Feb. 20, 2008 09:02 a.m.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Porsche has announced a recall of "almost 19,000 Cayenne SUVs worldwide to move the fuel line away from other car parts."   Normal movements "can cause the fuel line to contact engine-compartment cladding. This may cause a knocking sound and, in rare instances, abrasion marks in the fuel line, Porsche said."  The notice affects Cayennes sold between Nov. 30, 2006, and Jan. 18, 2008.

The AP adds, "So far, Porsche said there had been five complaints but no injuries or accidents reported. The company said the free repair takes about 40 minutes."  Kicking Tires explains, "Porsche will send notices to owners, and the fix will be handled at Porsche dealerships free of charge."
