The 2008 Geneva Motor Show doesn't close until March 16, but AutoWeek has already released its award winners from the show.  AutoWeek says that 2008 "will go down in history as a watershed event for a worldwide industry that is working hard to clean up tailpipe emissions and improve fuel economy." The magazine named the Ford Fiesta the Most Significant car to debut in Geneva, arguing, "If Ford gets this car right, it could be the product that brings the Dearborn automaker back from the brink."  AutoWeek named the Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione Best in Show, although "only 84 of the 500 8C coupes will head to the United States."  A full list of award winners can be found in this press release

Car and Driver also sums up the show, offering its list of the Most Significant Debuts.  The list "includes everything from the most affordable new car since the Model T [the tiny $2,500 Tata Nano] to the most powerful diesel engine ever installed in a mass-produced car [The 500 horsepower V12 in Audi's Q7 TDI]."  Car and Driver also recognizes the Fiesta, and praises Volvo's XC60 crossover, adding, "We hope this style spreads across the Volvo range as soon as possible."

Detroit Free Press columnist Mark Phelan named Renault's Mégane coupe concept his Best in Show. He writes that its "clean and attractive body and haute-moderne interior are a welcome return to form by Renault's stylists."  He praises the Hyundai i-Mode concept as the Most Pleasant Surprise of the show, and calls the Volkswagen Sirroco sport hatchback the Most Disappointing.
