The Car Connection reports, "With a preliminary order bank of up to 30,000 customers" for its tiny ForTwo minicar, "Smart is already struggling to meet demand" in the U.S. "Actually deliveries have slowly been ramping up from the 1,400 cars handed over to customers in January."  Officials at Daimler AG, the parent company that operates both Smart and Mercedes, are said to be examining options to increase production of the cars, including an "additional shift added at the" only existing Smart plant, in France, or construction of a new plant.

The price of the Smart ForTwo may vary widely between regions because of demand.  Ohio CBS affiliate WKRC-TV reports that the Smart Car is selling for "between 11-thousand five-hundred and 22-thousand dollars" in Ohio, while Missouri CBS affiliate KFVS-TV says they "start at $13,000."
