The Detroit Free Press reports that a survey of web users who visited one of the web sites for the six largest automakers determined that Honda’s site does “the best job of giving consumers the information they want, getting them into dealer showrooms and driving sales.” The survey of 2,000 respondents, gave Honda’s site a score of 80 on a user-satisfaction index developed by the University of Michigan. “The industry average was 78. Chrysler.com and FordVehicles.com tied with 79. But Chevrolet.com and Toyota.com scored below average, with 77. NissanUSA came in last, with 76.” For comparison, Amazon.com scores “about 88 in a similar index.”
Kicking Tires adds, “A few common reasons for website dissatisfaction as cited by customer surveys included the following: Too many clicks to get to desired information, no individual pages for each car model, and not explaining why this automaker's brand is superior to others.”
