Bloomberg reports, "Honda Motor Co., Japan's second- largest automaker, is recalling 353,000 Accord sedans in the U.S. to fix a windshield-wiper flaw that may allow water to leak into the wiper motor." The recall affects Accords from the 2003 model year. Honda claims no accidents or injuries have been associated with the problem.
The AP adds, "Honda said the corrosion could cause the circuit breaker to fail and could prevent the motor from working, potentially leading to a crash."
2003 Accord owners can contact Honda at 800-999-1009. Honda dealers should inspect the wiper motor, replace it if necessary, and add a cover that will protect it from future water damage.
