We've been watching sales of large trucks and SUVs drop all year, but we were stunned by this one:
Autoblog reports, "Dealers trying to shift their 2008 Dodge Rams before the 2009s arrive are taking as much as $13,000 off the bill to try and convince buyers to come forth. That means you can get a Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT 4x2 for $19,995, instead of $32,795."
Automobile Magazine adds, "Dodge dealers currently have a 109-day supply of 2008 models sitting on lots across North America. Considering production of the redesigned '09 Ram begins in approximately 4 months, there's not a lot of time for dealers to move the excess inventory to avoid hurting the new model's sales." While the $13,000 discount reported on Autoblog seems to be the high point, "On average, incentives for the Ram run around $8,000" this month.
With gas prices at record highs, it's simply a terrible time to buy a large truck. But, if you must, you may never see a lower price than what you can find this month.
