Dodge's brand new Journey crossover is barely five months old, and already it's being recalled. Reuters reports, "Chrysler is recalling 6,692 Dodge Journey crossovers for the 2009 model year because of defects in the engine wire harness that may damage electrical circuits, the automaker said on Monday."
According to Motor Trend, only V6-powered Journeys are affected.
Edmunds Inside Line notes, "In its recalls summary of the problem, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the engine wiring harness on the affected Dodge Journey models may contact the left transaxle mount.'Damage to the wiring harness could result in an engine compartment fire,' said the government watchdog."
Dealers will inspect the vehicles, and install a device that keeps the harness away from the transaxle mount, free of charge. Owners should be notified this month, and can contact Chrysler at (800) 853-1403 for further information.
