Chevy Officially Unveils 2010 Camaro

Among the more interesting announcements at the big Camaro unveil yesterday afternoon is the muscle car's production launch, which comes sooner than expected. Edmunds Inside Line reports that it begins Feb. 16, 2009 and adds: "Deliveries to dealers should be sometime in the middle of March. The Camaro Convertible should arrive about a year after that as a 2011 model."

Though images and information about the Camaro leaked weeks ago, the auto press still praised the reveal. Referring to the 3.6-liter V-6 and 6.2-liter V-8 engines, Kicking Tires says, "The basics of this new muscle car are impressive." Popular Mechanics adds, "The Camaro is a stunner. In fact, we think it looks even better than the concept."

Though Chevy has not yet announced pricing, speculation says it may be competitive with the Ford Mustang, which starts at $20,530. However, Edmunds isn't so sure, saying, "We'd be shocked if the more powerful, more efficient and plain newer Camaro can match those prices -- but maybe not as shocked as Ford would be."
