Recall Alert: Nissan Sentra

Posted: Jul. 24, 2008 10:07 a.m.

The AP reports, "Nissan Motor Co. is recalling nearly 170,000 Sentra sedans in the United States to address a brake cylinder that could leak fluid."  Affected vehicles include 2007 and 2008 model year Sentras of all trim levels.

According to a defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an irregularity in some brake cylinders can cause fluid leaks.  In the short term, the problem causes a brake warning light to turn on.  In the long term, it could theoretically lead to brake failure.

Kicking Tires notes, "Nissan says there have been no accidents or injuries reported due to the problem, and the company will replace the faulty cylinder."

Nissan dealers should contact Sentra owners to schedule the free fix, but concerned owners may contact Nissan at 1-00-647-7261 at any time.
