Edmunds Inside Line reports, "Volvo will begin a recall of approximately 1,020 of its 2008-'09 C30, C70, S40 and V50 models by the end of July to correct a problem with the power steering return line hose." The hose may have structural problems that can cause it to fail.
A defect notice filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration explains, "If the power steering return hose fails, a sudden rupture of the hose can occur. This can result in a rapid drainage of the power steering fluid in the system and complete loss of power assistance, increasing the risk of a crash."
US Recall News reports, "Dealers will inspect and replaced the steering return line hose assembly free of charge. The recall is expected to begin during July, 2008."
