Edmunds Inside Line reports, "Lamborghini has confirmed that it is researching hybrid vehicle development, but the exotic-carmaker has stopped short of disclosing the name of any future hybrid vehicle or exactly what form such a vehicle would take."

Car and Driver reports, "After months of internet rumors, Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa today reiterated Ferrari's direction in powertrain development, hinting more strongly than ever that a hybrid concept is in the works."

Autoblog adds, "Two approaches which Ferrari chief executive Amadeo Felisa confirmed the company is looking into include turbocharging and E85 bio-ethanol."  Felisa added that Ferrari is "working on a hybrid concept, likely to incorporate the F1-derived KERS regenerative braking system, to debut at an upcoming auto show in the United States following the Frankfurt Motor Show in September."

Both automakers are responding the stringent European emissions regulations set to take effect in 2014.  With tougher U.S. emissions regulations due two years after that, exotic sports car makers are increasingly looking to find ways to build high-performance green cars.
