It won't be a battleship-sized Bonneville with four tail fins, a fastback GTO Judge with ram air, or even a Trans Am with a screaming chicken on the hood.
No, the last Pontiac will be a Toyota.
General Motors has released its 2010 model year product guide, showing the cars dealers will be able to order from the manufacturer, and it has just one Pontiac product in it: the 2010 Pontiac Vibe.
Jalopnik explains, "The fact that the 2010 Pontiac Vibe is surviving until 2010 may have something to do with the joint production deal GM has with Toyota to build the vehicle, along with its twin the Toyota Matrix, at the joint NUMMI production facility in Fremont, California. Every other vehicle will end at the 2009 MY with the exception of the fleet-only 2010 Pontiac G6, which may or may not become a strange collector's item for those willing to search the Alamo Rent-A-Car sales lot."
Those interested in buying the last Pontiac should note that, according to CarScoop, "The compact crossover continues in the new model year with a few minor upgrades," including "a new luggage rack for the AWD models, the availability of a Cargo management package and Sun & Sound package on the base 1.8L." For the first time, air conditioning will be standard on every Vibe.
We'd request that stylized bird painted on the hood of ours, for sentimental reasons.
