Saturn Owners Offered $2K to Stick with GM

In the market for a new Chevy, Buick, Caddy or GMC? If you currently own a Saturn, you may be eligible to save some big bucks.

Automotive News reports: “In an effort to keep Saturn owners in the GM family, General Motors Co. is offering up to $2,000 in incentives toward the purchase of a vehicle from one of its four surviving U.S. brands.”

The only catch: “Saturn owners must have bought or leased their vehicles at least six months ago,” explains AN. However, drivers don’t have to trade in their cars -- just provide proof of their purchase date.

Industry insiders believe that the deal is meant to stem the loss of market share -- as GM killed the Saturn brand last year after a deal to sell it to Penske Automotive Group fell through.

Autoblog writes: “After its decision to euthanize Oldsmobile, General Motors knows exactly what happens when it mothballs one of its brands: GM loses market share to the competition. The General is trying to stop history from repeating itself with Saturn customers by offering $2,000 on the hood of every car and crossover donning the ringed planet badge.”

Over 30 GM vehicles are eligible for the deal -- including the popular Chevrolet Camaro, Buick LaCrosse and Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon. The offer expires March 31.
