If you have a Facebook account and like muscle cars, “become a fan” of Chevy Camaro. Yesterday, Chevrolet released the first official photos of the 2011 Chevrolet Camaro convertible on its fan page, and the shots look amazing.
“We've seen spy shots galore and even a fake or two, but this is the first glimpse that General Motors itself has given of the upcoming droptop Camaro,” writes Autoblog. Not enough? Also check out Edmunds’ spy video of the convertible Camaro.
According to Top Speed: “The Camaro Convertible will go into production at the Oshawa assembly plant in the first quarter of 2011. It will be offered in the same three trims as the coupe version: LS, LT and SS.” In the Facebook pictures, however, the Camaro appears to have an RS badge. The model will feature a conventional soft top, and maintains the same bodylines and proportions as the coupe. No other details are known.
Currently, the only convertible available in the class of muscle cars is the drop-top Ford Mustang, which is set to be redesigned for 2011. With the introduction of a convertible Camaro, Chevy may finally have the edge over Ford’s lower trim level ponies. However, Ford still has the 540-horsepower Ford Mustang Shelby GT500, which not even the Camaro SS can touch.
