Posted: Feb. 09, 2010 10:02:41 a.m.
Entry-level luxury sedans are, increasingly, sport sedans. Cars like the Infiniti G37 and the Audi A4 combine sharp cornering prowess with understated sex appeal, giving those who need four doors a few pulse-quickening options. The last Volvo S60 couldn’t hack it. Volvo stopped building it altogether midway through the 2009 model year, and didn’t bother with a 2010 version at all.
For 2011, however, the Swedish automaker will unveil a new, sexier S60 aimed at making buyers forget ...

If the all-new Camaro wasn’t hyped enough, welcome the Camaro Synergy Special Edition -- which Chevy will unveil this weekend at the 2010 Detroit Auto Show.
According to Autoblog: “It's based on the 1LT, with its 304-horsepower, 3.6-liter, direct-injection V6. You can get it with the six-speed stick or an automatic, but the bespoke, specially-stitched shift knob will assuredly feel better when shifting for yourself.”
However, what really makes this Camaro pop is its color scheme. “Like the ...

Ford swept the North American Car and Truck of the Year awards, taking home both prizes at the Detroit Auto Show this morning. It is the third time that a manufacturer has won both awards in the same year. After a tumultuous year of poor sales, bankruptcies and the collapse of industry giants, the 2010 North American International Auto Show opens this week in Detroit. This year the buzz is all about electric cars -- hopefully a sign that things are looking up in Motor City.
The Detroit Free Press explains: “Rebuilding in Detroit starts with cars, with sheet metal and engines, leather and plastics, and some new things, too: In-car technology like you've never seen before and more ...
Next Chevy Aveo May Be Dramatic Improvement
Posted: Jan. 08, 2010 10:01:05 a.m.
The current Chevy Aveo ranks as one of the least appealing American cars. In our Affordable Small Car rankings, which measure the consensus opinion of the automotive press about a car’s merits, the Aveo places 29th…out of 29. It would be hard for General Motors to build an Aveo replacement as lackluster as the current Aveo. But the car is due for replacement soon. The automotive press has now seen a preview of what GM will do to ...

A car that can tweet. A car that can play Pandora streaming music stations. A car that lets you tag songs you hear so that you can download them later. A car that is its own mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Sounds like a concept you’d see at an auto show, right?
Actually, the technologies will first appear in some Ford products late this year.
For the last few years, most auto critics will tell you, Ford’s SYNC system has ...

If you’ve been to an auto show, it’s probably because you think it’s cool to be able to touch the shiny cars and even sit inside them. But wouldn’t it be even cooler if you actually got to drive them? If General Motors has its way, that’s exactly what you’ll get to do.
According to the Detroit News, “The company is in discussions with Cobo Center and Detroit officials about setting up a street ...

GM Confirms: Cadillac CTS Coupe to Arrive Next Year
Posted: Nov. 23, 2009 11:11:28 a.m.
The Cadillac CTS is, by most accounts, the best American-made sport sedan. It’s been taking the fight to the BMW 3-Series for several years now, and is gaining ground. It’s high-performance edition, the CTS-V, has even topped the legendary M3 in some comparison tests. But to truly knock off the German king of the entry-level luxury segment, Cadillac would need a CTS Coupe and a hardtop CTS convertible.
Check off another box. The Coupe is coming.

Toyota is known for many things, but soul-stirring Ferrari-like supercars with V10 power aren't on the list. The folks who brought you the Camry, however, think they can do that trick, too.
After nine years in development, they're finally ready to show us their attempt. Autoblog reports, "It seems like the Lexus LFA has been around forever. In reality, the first concept version was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in 2005, but that's a long time ...
