It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s...a pelican?  One can only guess that these thoughts went through the mind of a driver of a rare 2006 Bugatti Veyron EB as he accidentally drove his million-dollar supercar into a shallow lagoon.

“This is one of the saddest, yet most amusing sights we've ever seen,” says Autoblog. “A $1.6 million Bugatti Veyron sitting in a salt water lagoon, door open, in two feet of nasty, corrosion-inducing ...

If you’ve been considering a Pontiac, get moving.  They’re almost gone.

Last spring, General Motors announced plans to close the Pontiac brand by the end of 2009.  With just two months to go, the brand appears to be making a smooth exit from the marketplace.  On the brand’s official Twitter feed, it has provided an update of what’s left – and the total works out to barely 3,600 cars nationwide.

Federal auto safety regulators are looking into reports that some Jeep Grand Cherokee SUVs may be prone to gas tank fires.

AutoWeek reports, “Last month the nonprofit Center for Auto Safety complained that,” in Grand Cherokees from model years 1993 through 2004, “The SUV’s fuel tank extends below the rear bumper and is inadequately protected from crashes and rollovers.” The plastic tank is particularly vulnerable in rear-end collisions with smaller vehicles, the group says. General Motors wants Buick to be the new American Lexus.  The company took a huge step toward achieving that goal with its all-new 2010 LaCrosse, a hit with reviewers for its stylish upscale cabin and smooth ride.  But the LaCrosse is a large car.  In order to truly succeed, the brand will need a smaller midsize car that does at least as well with critics.

They’ll get one soon.  CNN reports, “General Motors will bring back the Regal name ...

Volvo Unveils Stylish New S60

Posted: Nov. 11, 2009 10:11:33 a.m.

The old Volvo S60 stuck around too long.  A sharp-looking upscale midsize car when it first appeared in the year 2000, it sold well at first. But Volvo left it alone while other automakers kept improving their entry-level luxury cars, and after nine years on the market with no significant changes, it sold so poorly in 2009 that Volvo just stopped building it.  The company doesn’t even make an entry-level midsize car for the 2010 model year.

But they ...
